FRAUD ALERT

Emails, texts and calls can be easily compromised. Be on the lookout for the following:

  • Familiar vendor or supplier requesting to update payment instructions or new invoices
  • Company CEO asking to make a new or secret payment
  • Company employees asking for updates to payroll or banking information

As your trusted partner, CIBC focuses on fraud education and prevention. To protect yourself:

  • Always verify any requests to change payment instructions, add a new payment beneficiary, change an account number or change any other information for an existing beneficiary
  • Always validate these requests with a live phone call using a phone number you already have on file for this contact
  • Don’t use contact information provided in the email as it may be fraudulent

If you think your business has been a victim of fraud, contact your relationship manager or the CIBC Business Client Centre at 1-800-500-6316 and select option 1.
