FRAUD ALERT

Beware of calls from fraudsters posing as  CIBC employees attempting to obtain your confidential sign on information.

Fraudsters may call CMO or SmartBanking users, claiming to be from CIBC, and send a link asking you to install a remote desktop application such as AnyDesk. They then request that you sign on to CMO, SmartBanking, or other online banking platforms, using remote access to steal personal information or perform transactions.

If you receive an unsolicited call or email from an individual claiming to be from CIBC:

  • End the call immediately.
  • Do not share your PIN or Token number.
  • Avoid clicking on links in emails or text claiming to be from CIBC.
  • Contact the CIBC Business Client Centre (BCC) Technical Support team at 1-800-500-6316 to verify the request.

CIBC will NEVER call you and ask you to install a remote desktop application or click on any links sent to you via text or email.

If you think your business has been a victim of fraud, contact your relationship manager or the CIBC Business Client Centre at 1-800-500-6316 and select option 1. Never use a phone number a caller provides.
